IF: Swept

I'm digging way back in the archives for this Illustration Friday. This unpublished pen and ink drawing is over ten years old:I drew this piece not long after graduating art school to accompany the old nursery rhyme:
There was an old woman tossed in a basket,
Seventeen times as high as the moon;
But where she was going no mortal could tell,
For under her arm she carried a broom.
"Old woman, old woman, old woman," said I,
"Whither, o whither, oh whither so high?"
"To sweep the cobwebs from the sky;
And I'll be with you by-and-by."

Sometimes it's good to break out the old work - just because it's old doesn't mean it's not still relevant! This is lovely and sweet. And I really love you color work as well! Gorgeous!

Fun! Nice job with this. I always like to go back and look in the archives too. It's always nice to see a) how much I've "grown" in the intervening years, and b) how good some of those old pieces were. This one sure is a winner.

If I saw a book with illustrations like yours, I would be lost in it. Lovely. (Oh and I also dug around and left a comment on one of your old posts because I liked it so much.) :)

May I use this illustration to create a label for some of my personally made products? I would alter it a bit so the lady looked more like Baba Yaga. Please write back and let me know. sophlili@cronemagick.com
